The one thing that you must do for your health
If you only do one thing, this should be it
Everybody has their advice when it comes to your health. From eating right to exercising, and oh so much more. These may be good suggestions, but take it with a grain of salt-there’s also a lot of junk advice floating around out there.
I’m going to give you the one piece of advice that you have to listen to though–go see your doctor.
If you are starting off on your weight loss journey, you just don’t know if there could be an underlying problem or not. For instance if you are overweight, there is chance of heart disease, or any number of other issues that can be dangerous during intense workouts.
Myself, I was recently diagnosed with mild hypertension. The result, I’m sure, of indulging on breakfast tacos. Hopefully I can keep off of any medications, and control it with a new diet. The point here is that I would have never discovered this if I would not have gone in for an exam.
I could give you a number of examples similar to this-where people go in for something minor, and then discover something bigger. You get the point though.
Take your overall health seriously
Ladies, perform those monthly breast exams. If it makes it more fun, teach your man what to look for. We may be horn-dogs most of the time, but when it comes to your health, we‘re there for you.
Your yearly appointment with your “lady-parts doctor” should not be skipped. A trip to your GYN will help catch anything wrong early.
If you happen to be pregnant, you absolutely have to get any nutrition and exercise, whether new or continued, cleared by your Obstetrician. There is no compromising on that point.
Gentlemen, you’re not off the hook. You need to perform self-checks on your testes as well. Not to mention having your doc test you for hernias. If you’re over 40, it’s time to get that prostate checked out.
There is peace of mind to get a clean bill of health. You will perform at a higher level knowing that you can safely train like an athlete. It is the one thing that you must do for your health.

Sage advice. My dad didn’t find out about his testicular cancer until it had spread throughout his body. If he would have gone to the doctor for regular check ups, they probably would have caught it sooner.

Anne, I’m sorry to hear about your father. My dad went very much the same way.

This is so true. When I first began working out, I didn’t check with my GP. I should have, because he probably could have caught some of the medical stuff that didn’t surface until I started running. Now I’m looking at a possible knee replacement.
